HISTORY

The work began on January 22, 1930. There were 3600 workers, most of them were Europeans Imigrants,killed 5 workers. The building opening on May 1,1931,but when there was the ignaguration many offices were free because of 'The big depression`. The intention was to have the world's tallest building.

The typical needle of the building, it was initially to be an airport for airships. Floor 102^nd. Was a landing platform with a path for the travelers. The idea was dangerous and they decided to build instead a tower emissions.

In 1945, a fighter plane crashed with the Empire State and 14 people were death. 

It was for 23 years the highest building in the world.

There had been more than 30 people that committed suicide in the building. One time a person jumped from floor 86^th.  and the wind was so strong it got smashed on floor 85^th.

This building has in total 106 floors.
